Who We Are

JTStrong Memorial Fund, Inc was formed in 2017 and finally approved in 2018. It is a recognized 501c charity that was formed by Paddy and Chuck Sharpe in memory of their late son Joshua T. Sharpe.

Joshua was a young man who was born with a genetic disease called Cystic Fibrosis. CF is a chronic lung and digestive disease that effects each patient differently. Currently there is no cure for Cystic Fibrosis, but over the past decade, the life expectancy of CF young people has grown significantly, and the quality of life has improved with new drug therapies and treatments. Unfortunately for Josh a cure was not found soon enough and he and his lungs began getting progressively worse. Ultimately he needed to undergo a double lung transplant that extended his young life another 2plus years. It allowed him to get back out on the golf course and ride motorcycles and get to as many concerts as his body and wallet could handle. However, the infection that had originally damaged his first set of lungs was never completely gone from his body post transplant and eventually came back to damage the new lungs. Unfortunately because of all the anti-immune suppressant drugs that he was on and the lack of any new antibiotics at that time, Josh was only able to battle for a short time before succumbing to the disease.

It is our mission to continue to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the doctors, nurses and researchers who continue to search for a cure, and most importantly the patients who bravely fight every day.

These advancements are only possible with continued support of much needed research.  Money generates science and science generates change. Together, we have the potential to eradicate this disease.
